Cooking with Science!

This week in science we are exchanging our lab coats for our chef's hats!  We are getting our hands dirty in the kitchen to apply all of our learning to the real world!  You know when kids always ask you, "When will I ever use this in real life?"  My answer... now, in ten minutes, tomorrow, a year from now... You never know?!  They thought they would only need to know about physical and chemical changes for their textbook but boy we're they wrong.  When put in the kitchen, they found out how many things go through a chemical or physical change within just an hour?!

Using our Cooking with Science Lab Packet, my kiddos got to create homemade butter, homemade pancakes, make literacy connections, apply their learning to real-world scenarios, and work cooperatively on a creative writing assignment, all while still being little scientist, testing hypothesis and recording their observations and data!  It was one mighty tasty lesson, if I do say so myself!  If you would like to know more about how our lesson went and get your own copy of Cooking with Science, head on over to my blog!

Have a happy Thursday y'all!
